CHRISTMAS ALLEY (Via San Gregorio Armeno) |
||
Street in downtown Naples in the Spaccanapoli area. Nativity cribs and presepe (nativity) pieces are available year-round on a limited basis. However, from November until January 6, you will find the most merchandise available. The atmosphere is quite festive and every imaginable Christmas decoration is for sale. Take the metropolitana from AFSouth to the Piazza Cavour stop. Turn left out of the station, walk two blocks and turn right onto Via Duomo. In three blocks you will pass the Duomo (cathedral) on the left side of the street. Take the very next right onto Via Tribunale. (It will look more like an alley as this is the old section of town.) Walk three blocks and turn left at a small piazza onto Via S.Gregorio Armeno. This is Christmas Alley. (There is also a convent at the beginning of this street where you can purchase candles of all types. Ring the bell at the wrought iron gate on the right.)
